Half-Life 2 demo
Try some of the early levels of Half-Life 2 in this demo.
Strangely Valve and ATI have decided to release the Half-Life 2 demo over a month after the full game hit the shelves (and Steam). By now every farmer and his dog has tried the game, but heck - for those of you (yes, and I mean all three!) who haven't bought the biggest PC title of 2004, yet, here's your chance to try it out. This Half-Life 2 demo takes you through some of the early levels of the game and later transports them to the area of the game known as Ravenholm.
Please note that you need a Steam account to play the demo. Yes, we know it's only a demo...

I just wanna see if it works on my dinosaur , if it does I doubt I'll be finishing the demo....
lemme atom
grr
That is to say it runs beautifully on :
PIII- 1ghz, 384mb RAM
XFX 5200 Graphics card (256mb)
Loading time's a bit of a pain, but well worth it. Looks stunning and since it's built on DirectX 7, I would recmomend anyone in doubt over their system's abilities to run HL2 to try this demo....
Remember since the hype ended and HL2 hit the shelves, the prices for hardware upgrades have plummitted and you may yet squeeze some life from your system. -Besides getting a new machine altogether may be wasteful until there are more 64bit systems available....
Currently, my download says "80h:1m3s" and is decreasing at a subjectively slow rate (average, microwave timer speed). I'll stare at my monitor for a couple more days, hopefully finding out why the center of the universe hasn't pulled us into oblivious gray area for all these years.
I actually rock at AA, let me tell you a scenerio.
At the time, i was on top of the center arch while engaging the defence on Bridge Crossing. I was the only one left on my team, with 3 enemies on opfor.
1- a 90 honor approaches me from the ladder, goes 5 steps, then is shot by me, bullets whisping past my ears.
2- I move out on the ledge of the arch and (because we are playing SF only) I turn on auto and lay out a measly 12 honor in the left window of the defending tower with my lead-spray.
3- One E remaining, my pulse pounding. I slowly creep out to the right ledge to check my surroundings, but no sight of the opfor. I decide to move back out to left side of my arch, and I sit up in my crouch position, rather than prone. In a lightning reflex, I spray a clip through the center window, tagging the remaining 33 honor opponent.
round ends, and I message "1337 baby" out of my joy.
And I'm a 15 honor. ^_^
Oh, would you look at that, 75h:6m31s remaining on the download!
I'm a patient guy.
